A Local Bakery That Supports Local Organic Farmers
If you’re like other people in our community, you understand the importance of buying locally-sourced foods and ingredients. It feels nice to support your local community and to resist the impulse to purchase flashy imported items from the local supermarket.
For those who want local bread, they buy bread from Boulangerie Des Rosiers. We produce our bread locally, but that’s not where the support for the workers in your local community ends. Our ingredients, from the flours to sesame seeds, are locally sourced from the hardworking farmers in our region. In that sense, a loaf of bread from us isn’t a product of our bakery—it is a product of your community.
If you’d like to try some of our breads for yourself, we welcome you to visit the Boucherie Atlantique at 5060 Côte-des-Neiges, Montreal, Québec H3V 1G6. We promise you will not be disappointed!
An Authentic Whole Grain Bakery That Doesn’t Cut Corners
Once a week, our bakery’s ancient grains are milled on a stone mill by Daniel Des Rosier himself. Some might think this is an unnecessary step for such a busy person to perform, but for us, it an absolutely essential step. When we mill the grains ourselves, we are able to control the granulometry (the coarseness or fineness of the grain) ourselves.
Here, we value the coarse flour over the fine flour. While you might be used to seeing fine flours in the supermarket, a coarse grain is richer in nutrients and best suited for excellent sourdoughs.
Our French Bakery’s Ingredients Are Local, but Our Recipes Are from All Over
Take our Miso bread, for example. While many might be unfamiliar with miso bread, it has a rich history in Japan. This delicious bread is high in protein and made from miso (fermented soybeans and cereals), organic unbleached wheat flour, Red Fife flour, and organic sourdough. This bread has a rich garlic-like smell and carries a strong flavor foreign to many unfamiliar with Japanese cuisine.
Our miso bread is one of the many breads Mr. Des Rosier has perfected through years of worldwide travel, apprenticeships, research, and experimentation.
We Are Proud to be a Certified Organic Bakery
Our organic certification comes from the organization Ecocert Canada. This certification doesn’t simply mean our flours are organic; it means that every ingredient that enters our facilities is 100% organic.
We take pride in this fact, and so do many of our customers. They take great comfort in knowing that our food is of the highest quality. In an age where consumer choices matter more than ever, we’re the best choice any consumer can make.
We know the standards of our clientele are high—that’s why we set ours even higher.
Our Organic Bakery Is at The Forefront of the Slow Food Revolution
Our bakery is for the people of the fast-paced world who miss the days of food prepared slowly and with care. Though ‘slow food’ is on the rise these days, it is hardly a trend. Long before us, it was the sole method of baking and cooking practiced by our parents, their parents, and so on.
Many people might not have the time to prepare food this way, but that is why we’re here. We will always hand-fold our dough, coarsely mill our own ancient grains, and ferment sourdoughs for long periods of time.
Country-Style Bread, Miso Bread, and More: A Delicious Whole Grain Bakery
Whether you are looking for the sesame-like flavors of our rustic quinoa loaves, or the festive taste of apple-cranberry bread, we are the bakery for you. We don’t limit ourselves to baking bread from one region or for one type of individual.
A Gluten-Free Bakery: We Make Bread for Everyone
We want everyone to enjoy our bread. That is why we make a variety of gluten-free loaves from both modern and traditional recipes. Here, we believe gluten-free bread can be as delectable as other forms of bread. Even if you’re not gluten intolerant, you’ll surely love these loaves. You might even be enjoying low-gluten or zero-gluten bread daily without even realizing it!
